Susan Godfrey - Geek Chic

I just fell in love with this fun Kit by Susan Godfrey named Geek Chic. This kit is so fun! I just loved using this kit. Make sure you stop by Susan's shop, pick up Geek Chic and do some other shopping while you are there: SUSAN GODFREY SHOP

This is one of my favorite pictures of myself in Maui Hawaii just a few weeks ago when we were in Hawaii to Celebrate the year of our 20th Wedding Anniversary.

This layout was so fun for me. I have always wanted to scrap about our silly Self Portraits:  Ron loves to take self portraits of us. I can’t count how many he has taken in the last 19 years. Some of our best pictures are these silly self portraits. I get the biggest kick of out them.
My comments usually include: “Don’t drop the camera” and “Did you get us”. Strangely enough they almost always turn out cute.
This one we took on our trip down the road to Hana in Maui on our Hawaiian vacation.

Susan Godfrey - City Spring

I created these two layouts using the beautiful and fun City Spring Scrap Kit by Susan Godfrey. Visit Susan's Website: www.susangodfrey.com for this kit and for her other beautiful kits. Here is the link to her store: SUSAN GODFREY SHOP

This first layout is one that I did about the flowers Ron gave me for no reason. Here is my journaling:             Ron brought me home these beautiful flowers for absolutely no reason. I was totally surprised and very grateful. They were so pretty and colorful. They totally made my day. What was cute about it was, Ron told me that he told the lady to make something fun, bright and cheerful like his wife and this is what she came up with. I loved them!!!  2-25-2011

This second layout was just a fun one I did featuring Ron's first tropical drink in Maui. It was so pretty I couldn't resist taking a photo of it!

Texas Scrapfest I-Crop Take 3

If you haven't figured it out by now I am having an absolute blast scrapbooking via the 2010 Texas Scrapfest. www.texasscrapfest.com

Here was the challenge that inspired this layout:  Un-clutter your page. Employ a good bit of white space, while at the same time helping your photo stand out with circles, a pennant banner and a whimsical title.

Journaling: IT is hard for me to understand where the time has gone with you. What happen to that little pudgy nephew of mine who loved playing with his dog and hunting with Grandpa?
It really hit me when we were all at Alicia’s wedding. The beautiful bride Alicia, your sister Jess all dolled up in her bridesmaid dress and Seth all handsome in his Tux.....and then there was you. I am use to seeing you in a wrestling singlet, bluejeans and a Newman Grove Sweatshirt with Boschen on the back.
Here you were all dressed up. You have always been kind of my little boy.
You have a heart of gold and you are a wonderful nephew. i am so proud of you Sheldon. I know you will be a terrific man but for now to me you are still that little boy who for some reason stole his Aunt Kristin’s heart........

This one was super super fun for me. MY beautiful new baby :)

Texas Scrapfest I Crop

If you really want some fun Challenges....come play along with the 2010 I-Crop at www.texasscrapfest.com

I have been busy working on mine and am soooooooooooooo happy have gotten my Scrapping groove back.

Here is my first layout.

Here is the challenge that Lesle posted: It's all about you! Your page must showcase a recent photo of you. You should also share some of your favorite things with us: book/magazine, color, website dessert, etc.

I went a little away from the Norm on the requirements.......but I do love this layout...and I do love my scrapbooking pals.

I decided to include my journaling: Lately I have been struggling with a bit of an identiy crisis if you want to call it that. I feel as though I just don’t measure up with many of the woman my age or older. They all seem so polished and together and I feel dazed and confused. It is kind of a challenge for me and something I can’t completely identify. Almost four months have passed and all the things that I use to enjoy are no longer as enjoyable to me.  The thing I missed the most was scrapbooking. I kind of got out of sorts and stayed that way. However, all it took was a small reconnection with a group of people who I admire and respect and my broken give a darn just might be on the mend. I am also getting some of my long lost mojo back which makes me happy. I miss being  creative. I miss creating something that makes me feel happy. I miss  the me that I felt measured up.....but she just might be on her way back.

Probably the best read....

that I have had in a long time that made me bawl like a four year old girl.  It has been a long time since I read something that made me cry like an idiot for 10 minutes. This guy needs a big THANK YOU from us Husker fans....OMG....wow.......What a read.....and indeed.....

THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE NEBRASKA!!!!!!

From the radio voice of the University of Louisiana - Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns.
The SEC THINKS it has great atmosphere.......

This is my 18th season covering Cajuns football. And, for eight years before that, I had the opportunity to broadcast selected games on TV as well.

I've been to nine SEC stadiums. (I'll go to a tenth next season at Georgia.) I've seen the grove at Ole Miss, experienced the Gator Chomp, the Mississippi State cowbells, been a part of Alabama football in both Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. I've been called "Tigerbait" in Baton Rouge and experienced some pretty good hospitality in South Carolina.

I've said hello to the folks at Illinois and Minnesota. Felt September heat in Tempe, AZ.

Been to Manhattan, Lubbock, Austin, Stillwater and College Station. College Station was probably the best. Folks say "Howdy" when they see you. And they say "welcome."

Haven't been to the Horseshoe, the Big House or Happy Valley. Nor have I seen Touchdown Jesus.

But I've been to College Football Nirvana.

It's located in Lincoln, Nebraska.

From the time we touched down ("Welcome to Lincoln," the police officers doing the escort said) to the time we left the stadium ("Thanks so much for coming, have a safe trip home. We hope you'll come back again") every Cajun fan felt like a guest.

That's right. A guest. Not the opposition...not the enemy....a guest.

Check into the Cornhusker Marriott, not far from campus. Fans of Big Red Nation are already there. Smiles, handshakes....welcome to Lincoln. Good luck tomorrow.

Board the bus for dinner. Arrive at Misty's, Lincoln's famous steakhouse (I mean, you gotta eat a steak, right?). There were about 25 in our party. We had to wait about twenty minutes for them to get everything ready. No problem. As soon as the patrons saw the Cajun gear, they wanted to talk...introduce themselves....welcome to Lincoln....thanks so much for coming. Hope you enjoy the game.....

Is this for real??

And, it continued throughout the evening and into the night. We made lots of friends. We Cajun people make friends pretty easily, but it's even easier when folks want to be friends.

In Lincoln, they all want to be your friend.

Gameday is different in Lincoln. They tailgate, sure....but it's tougher because, well, there's just not a lot of tailgaiting spots. But they do open the soccer field next to the stadium. Families can let the kids roam free. Nebraska radio does a pregame show there. And, a band plays during the commercial breaks.

I did an interview at the soccer field with the Nebraska radio folks. And then, had a pretty good trek to the media entrance. At each gate, the sight was the same. Hundreds lined up, waiting for the gates to open so they could get into the stadium and watch their team warm up.

By the time Nebraska came out, about 45 minutes before kickoff, the stadium was about 65% full. There was no "hey, let's stay outside and pound a few more beers."

Because it was gameday. And they came to see football.

By the time the band was ready to come out, 86000 strong were in their seats. They stood and clapped along when the Cornhusker Band played "Fight on Cajuns" to honor their guests. And when the band played "There is no Place Like Nebraska" I knew that the statement was true.

For the first time ever in my years covering the Cajuns, I did not hear a single boo when the Cajuns came out of their tunnel onto their sidelines; in fact, I heard a smattering of applause.

During the game, 86000 cheered as Nebraska rolled. They didn't leave at halftime to go out and start drinking (and remember it was 34-0 at the half). Some were outside, but they had passes to get back in and by the time the second half was ready to kick off, they were all back in their seats.

In the fourth quarter there were STILL over 80000 in the stands. Security keeps an eye out for the sign of alcohol in the stands, which is how trouble starts. If they see alcohol they don't turn a blind eye. After all, college football is about a FAMILY atmosphere.

And when it ended, the fans stayed for another Cornhusker tradition. They applauded the Cajuns as they left the field.

Now you might say...sure, it's easy to clap for someone when you just beat them 55-0. But they do that when their team LOSES. The newspaper on Saturday morning reprinted a handwritten letter from Florida State coach Bobby Bowden after the Seminoles got a hard fought 18-14 win years ago. Yep, the Nebraska fans cheered them as they left.

More of the same post game. There was a young man in a wheelchair where the Cajun players were getting their postgame meal. As each player came out, the young man thanked them for coming and wished them safe travels home. Many of the players stopped to chat for a minute.

Then it was over. And, as the buses left for the airport, the fans that were still there waved and applauded. No one finger salutes. No "you suck" chants. Simply, safe travels, my friends.

If the two teams should play again in the future, plan ahead Cajun Fans. Make the long drive or the relatively short flight. Come in Friday...leave Sunday. And, you will learn what REAL college football atmosphere is about.

Because, trust me.....there is no place like Nebraska.

When I took these photos you were missing for nearly a week and then after saying al ittle prayer to St. Anothony there you were. I was sooooo happy to see my little Cookie bear. I first saw you down by the shed and then as I made my way toward you, you seemed pretty happy to see me too. Following some scolding, we cuddled and then had a big bowl of milk!!

A little layout about my new puppy. I sooooo love him.

Journaling: Who knew....that I could be so totally smitten with someone so quickly. Who knew that
just a few short days later you and McCook would be my sweet little saviors. Just five
days later after getting you I would lose Button, after 16 years with my girl, who knew that the morning I brought you home to St. Ed I would find my princess gone. You Cheerio, where one of the reasons I could make it through that day. You made that whole horrible chaotic day just a little more tolerable. I am sorry that I put you through such chaois when you were so new to our home and such a little boy. You are fun, loving and learning so much these past few weeks. I love how your one little ear is always flopped over. I love how you love to run full speed around and around when Ron comes home. I love how you dig in the sand and come out with a little sand covered nose. I am happy I found you and the timing was perfect. Welcome to our home little Cheerio, just please stop eating my rugs.
